Preliminary results show that our Benefit Evening for Mennonite Central Committee Relief, Development and Peacebuilding last Saturday evening raised in excess of $48,000. We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated and contributed. A few payments are still expected. Anyone wanting to help us reach our goal of $50,000 (which some of us thought was unattainable) with a late donation would not be turned away. The amounts of our contributions to MCC and to the Mennonite Disaster Service have not yet been determined, but we know that we kept our event expenses to a minimum, so those amounts will be substantial. The Men o’ Sota vocalizing and the discussion of refugees and immigrants by Virgil Wiebe, Blaise Masinga, and Andrew Wright were thought-provoking and inspirational. All in all, a wonderful evening.
